benefit of 3 window stationary gear bearings

As I was going through the plethora of parts I picked up yesterday for my S4, I started inspecting the engine internals. I have 2 sets of Stat gears and noticed that on both that the bearings are scored and discolored.

Seeing this, I started to look for replacements and found the 3 window stat gear bearings on the Atkins site at a substansially higher price then the Mazda OE bearings.

What are the benefits of these over the OE bearings ? I did a search and read a bit of doing a window mod, but nothing on the actual bearins available on the Atkins site, so please dont tell me to search, I did that.

Thanks,
Craig

I believe they are of no merit without the modified stat gear. You need to have a groove that runs around the bearing bore to feed all three windows. I think the FD stat gears come this way. It's a good oiling upgrade mod.

Just get the FD stat gears and stock FD bearings. The gears can generally be had for under $50/set and the bearings are a little over $100 for the set.

You'd best get the FD Oil press. regulator too then, the stock FC OPR is set at what, like 70 psi? and the FD bearings are made for 100 psi.

what's that, the gears? I might be able to come up with a set that need bearings, yeah. I've also got pumps, regulators, front cover reliefs, etc.

Yup the FD gears/Bearings and anything else that I might need to improve oil delivery.
