Belts!

Ok this is really gay. I just bought new belts for my car from NAPA b/c they sweaked at 3500RPMs and greater. Well the didn't sweak for the day and the next day the started to sweak around the same range again so what should i do. Is is a bearing or is it the belts? what can it be?

Belts will stretch out a little in the first few miles/days after you install them, especially in the summer. They may just need to be re-tightened a little.

On the other hand, I've had problems with fitment/noise when using off-the-shelf belts before. I guess they're not all exactly the same shape in terms of the angle at which they're cut, or maybe the materials vary some. I just ordered a complete set of OEM-style belts from Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda and there has been no squealing or other issues so far. I think they cost about $50 total so not as cheap as the NAPA belts probably were, but still not terrible.

I use goodyear gatorbacks all around.. never had a problem. They also cost a bit more.

You get what you pay for.
