Belt squeel and electrical

Ok, I can't figure out what is going on.

If I am at high rev's or well, anything above 1.5k, then I let go of the gas, my rev's drop down below 750 to around 500 and then one of my belts starts to squeel. Also when I press the brake pedal all my lights will dim. This is usually only when the headlights are on. Could this mean that my alt. belt is too tight? Or too loose?

Thanks.

is it an S4?

If so, its just becase the alternators were fairly underrated on those models......

s far as the belt squeal, get new ones (if your's are aged) and tighten them up properly, FSM has proper deflection for tight belts........I think anyways.......

edit: I see your sig says 88, so yeah, just the curse of the S4 alt. - getting an FD one is the fix for that, there is also a group by being organized for some crazy *** 150 amp deals........guess some of these guys run mountains of stereo...........
