yes when most of the bearing is copper its bad and when it is no longer smooth then its bad.

and bearings spinning is where the actualy bearing spins inside of its pressed in location, i havent heard of it happening on rotaries that much more on old high mile piston engines.

When you start seeing copper, that particular area is worn down alot. the spun bearing can damage its seat and or the eccentric shaft its connected to. Spun bearings are never a good thing to hear about

now was it ALL copper or just a small spot? i think these bearings may be questionable, but if its ALL copper then its bad but if its a small spot; like around the seam then it should be OK.
