bbk fabricated and installed

these should be able to stop the car. i fabricated them out of a kit i had at laying around off a sema car that we had along with the wheels. just wanted to show that you don't have to buy everything off the shelf that's a direct bolt on. Making the rear rotor bells were a bitch and i just ended making them out of old rotors machined down.

The kit is a Alcon brake kit. the front rotors are 13.5 inches in diameter. the calipers are 4 piston type differential bore h calipers. The rear is 4 piston h type caliper. the mounts that were on them are not correct so basically i fabricated extensions out of stainless and welded them on to the bracket and drilled new holes. The kit came off a KIA forte koup. the rear rotors i machine the back face and the cooling fins off it. then i just lined up the rotor and drilled new holes in it and bolted it up. I had to basically make new rotor bells due to the fact that the kit was for a parking brake drum and not for a caliper parking brake like the mazda's are. For the fronts all i had to do was machine the hub a little for clearance and the bolt pattern was the same as the mazda's.

I suspect many of us would not argue the sentiment behind this. I certainly don't. i'm a 90% a "function over form-guy" so i'm definitely down.

however ...

... this is the issue.

you obviously have (or have access to) the equipment needed for fabrication on a whim, not to mention some skill. I think it's the lack of one or both of these things that drive many of us to settle for off-the-shelf parts. it's certainly the case for me with a lot of things.
