battery uncharging
Hi, bought a RX-7 -86 a week ago.
The problem is that my battery is uncharging.
(when the car isnīt used)
If connected it uncharges the battery in two days.
The battery voltage goes down to 7 V and wonīt
recharge until the voltage has gone up.
When recharging, the Amp starts at about 2 Amps
whitch indicates that the battery isnīt completely
uncharged (the battery is new).
The charging when driving donīt seem to be a problem.
Iīve "solved" the problem by disconnecting the battery
between dirving the car.
Anybody with a good idea?

Try unhooking any extranious amplifiers and stuff. I had this problem after somebody hooked up the cd changer to an un-switched hot. Three days and the car's dead...
If that's not the problem, make sure all your interior lights are working right. Same deal, if the door-switch wears out, lights stay on...
If not that, you'll just have to get the multi-meter out and check for voltage on fuse-lines when the car's off. find one that's drawing voltage and you've got your problem in hand.

car starts great now but hasn't gotten around to hooking the cd changer back up...

You'll need to find the circuit draining the battery.
Hook up a meter and start removing fuses to see which circuit still has power when car off. Check glove box light first. If not adjusted properly it will remain on.

Hoocked up a multimeter to the battery and checked
for changes in the voltage while pulling the fuses one
by one, didnīt notice any change at all.
Note, the main-fuse seemed to be stuck and I didnīt
like to force it up.
Note2, havenīt found ;-) the control-box for the
car-alarm yet (not original).

Don't just go out and buy an alternator without checking it first.
If your meter has a current test feature, disconnect the positive wires from the alternator and connect the meter in series with it. If the alternator is drawing any current, the meter will display it.
You can check for general current draw by removing fuses and connecting the meter as if it were a fuse.
You should probably use a meter that can measure more than a couple amps.
It sounds like you aren't very electronically proficient, so you might want to take it to a shop to get everything tested.
