Battery light and buzzer

Alright, this started just the other day. I'll start the car, wait for a minute or two, then the battery light will come on and the buzzer will sound for a minute or two, then shut off. The light and buzzer will come on periodically during hard cornering or over rough roads. It's not the alternator itself, as the safc reads correct voltage and I have no reason to assume a new alternator randomly went bad. Now, the thing is, I know I have some funky things going on in the idiot cluster since my clock sometimes doesn't work, and every time I apply the e-brake, both the brake and battery light come on, but dimly. When I release the brake, both lights go out. Sometimes the battery light goes out after I close my door too Anyway, is this a grounding problem like I think it is? Is my only option to rip apart the cluster? I don't want to rip apart my idiot cluster if I don't have to. Why would the battery light come on with the e-brake? I've checked the wired from the alt, and everything seemed fine. That buzzer drives me crazy Thanks for any help

Sure it is the battery light??? and not the low oil light? Go check your oil level.

sounds like a blown room fuse, does the dome light work?

Why would you think it is a grounding problem??? Obviously the grounds work and are just fine or the light would not come on at all... sounds much more likely like a blown fuse or other power issue.

Yes, it's the light that says charge on it, and has a battery drawn on it. I would think it's a ground, or perhaps a short now that I think about it, because the warning light and buzzer are intermittent while driving, like around hard corners and over some bumps. Also when the door is open and the e-brake applied only the charge indicator is on, but when I shut the door with the e-brake still applied both the e-brake indicator light and charge light are illuminated dimly until I release the brake. Perhaps the charge indicator and brake indicator have some lines crossing with each other? Oh, and last I checked yesterday the dome light worked.

Okay, again your bring up grounds (I don't get why people always think electrical problems are grounds when they themselves show they work- but anyway)...

Did you check the oil, like I asked??? Doesn't sound like it...

Okay... ON the 88, the charge light will come on if the alternator sends a ground (and not power) too the CPU in the drivers kick panel. In fact the CPU will turn on all the idiot lights when this happens.

When you pull up on the hand brake, or if your brake fluid is low, the brake light will come on. How does it do this??? By a switch that sends ground to the light. So how can we test to see if the light is getting that ground??? We pull up on the parking brake with the key on, and see if the idiot light come on. If it does the brake light is getting ground from the switch and working just fine.

Now the Buzzer... only a couple things can set the buzzer off.... do you know what they are??? They are LOW COOLANT... LOW OIL... and TOO high of a RPM (exceeding redline). It does not buzzer due to anything to do with the battery or the alternator.

So the idea that the charge light is coming on and the LOW OIL buzzer (because coolant has a delay on it- but low oil does not), says that either the wrong idiot light cluster is in there, or there is some other wiring issue. Your signature says that this is a 88 with a BREW in it, How is the BREW wired up? did you use the 88 harness or the BREW harness and how is the alt and oil sensor wired?

It turns out it was the low oil buzzer. I had been slacking on checking it. I am still wondering though why it lit up the charge indicator and not the oil light...oh well.
