battery issue

okay first I've done a search for this n didn't find much of anything to help. most of it was barely touchin what I was lookin for.

Last night I shocked my baby. it was late n I was tired. the altenator belt came off n I haven't been able to do a search around for one as of yet. but while driving the battery drained so I took it to a walmart n replaced the battery with a new one. well when I put the connectors back on to the battery I saw a nice show of lightning, and I realized what caused it after I connected the battery. I reversed the polarity. here's my prob. I switched the connectors to there proper terminal and when I tried to start her nothing. the only thing I can do is turn the lights on and the hazzards. Tell me its a fuse or something I can replace and that I haven't killed her yet again. thank is advance

You blew the main fuse under the hood.

You will a 10mm wrench to remove the fuse block, and then you will need a 10mm socket to remove the 80 amp fuse from the fuse block.

you don't HAVE to remove the fuse block, but it makes getting the rear 10mm bolt out a bit easier. And it only takes 30 seconds to remove it.

Odds are you have also fried several other things as well such as the ECU, CPU and power steering computer. Not to mention the stereo, and basically every other electronic component in the the car. Things to do not take kindly to reverse polarity. So, if you replace the fuse and the car still doesn't work, don't be surprised. Check all the fuses, and check your ECU as well. If you didn't damage anything else, count yourself lucky.
