Bad Turbine??? Pics...

Here's the scoop...I have 2 JDM S5 Turbo Motors. One is "good" and the other has blown coolant seals. Both motors appear to have STOCK Turbos. One TURBO has some modification to the wastegate...

Here's the back of the "stock" turbo...(on the motor with blown coolant seals)

Here's the back of the "modified" turbo (wastegate)...(on the good motor)

The turbines are also "different" on both Turbos...

Here's the front of the turbo...(on the good motor)

Here's the front of the turbo...(on the motor with blown coolant seals)
Looks like the turbine blades have been trimmed/broken or something...

Here's a picture with the housing off...

Here's my question...Which turbo is "better???" Both have some shaft play (seems to be more play on the turbo that's on the good motor).

captain torch sure didn't leave you with much metal to work with on those pipes... from the pics I'd go with the unmodified turbo.

The second turbo looks trashed. those fins are chewed up

2nd turbo is trash - it definitely ate something.

Are you sure that turbo isn't from a motor that has blown apex seals as well?

Just Coolant Seals...What would cause the fins to look like that? The inside of the housing is not gouged (like if something went through). What if I just swap the turbines (the hot side has a "ported wastegate")?

This pics are off the compressor / cold side of the turbo...not the turbine.

ANY damage to the fins is grounds to throw that thing in the trash.
