is it a bad thing that my fuel filter has never been changed?

well, after pondering on why my car was lean on the dyno @ 10psi with a walbro fuel pump and a FMIC, i realized that i have never changed my fuel filter since i have owned the car... and judging by the previous owner who i knew personally, i dont think the fuel filter has been changed in a looong long time... so i'll be changing it tomorrow.

could this be robbing me of precious fuel pressure? i think this could be why my car was/is running lean... what other problems could this cause?

Usually when the fuel filter gets too clogged, it deforms and just bleeds through (kinda like a HKS foam air filter) allowing dirt into the engine and to clog the injectors.

interesting. so lets say the injectors are NEW (hypothetical) and the fuel filter is "clogged". could that cause a lean condition?

um i dunno. can i just remove that damn thing?

i'm installing my e6k tomorrow so i'm going to watch my injector duty cycles while datalogging a wideband and see if they are really the problem (cause i think it has something to do with fuel pressure)

atkins has the filter for around 20 bucks I believe. I recently changed my filter. I wasn't expecting to notice any difference in anything, but the engine seemed smoother in the higehr revs.
