Question Bad Apex i think?

Hi, I own an '88 non-turbo, and suddenly start to smoke like a week ago, but it only smoke when i start the car or when i force the engine to 5 or 6,000 RPM, I think that the apex seal screwed up. Does anyone have or has the same problem who can tell me how to fix up that before i tear the engine and spent about like a 800 dllrs in apex seals.

Oh btw can anyone tell me wich are the mods for a non -turbo cuz i'm really interested in fixing my car, and after that i want to improve the engine mods.

Thx.

Bad apex seal would cause a loss of compression and horrible running; it would be hard to get up to high rpms (somewhat). Depending on the color smoke you have, its either an oil seal or a coolant seal. Either way your looking at a rebuild or new motor. Make sure your not running too rich; I am not sure if too much fuel with cause smoke (wouldn't that be black though?). My 12a GSL smokes over 6K and for a few minutes after startup.
