A smooth operating engine if possible. The resistor relay just changes the voltage sent to the fuel pump according to whether the car is boosting or not. Sometimes the unit will not operate properly and causes the pump to not get enough proper voltage which could cause the engine to stumble and not perform properly. It's just a simple check to help whittle down the possible causes.

Ok. Thanks. I didn't get a chance to check it yet again today but I will in the next few. Also meant to ask if a dirty fuel pump sock could cause this?

Today I finally got to check the fuel pump relay and it didn't help at all. I also check to make sure the coils had a good ground to eliminate that possibility also. I did however put some fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank and drove the car around for quite a while and it seemed to help the problem significantly but not completely fix it. I checked the fuel pump sock a while back and it was dirty but I haven't had a chance to replace it. Could a dirty fuel pump sock or fuel filter cause the problem by any chance? Is there something else I could try such as the Seafoam treatment? Any suggestions or ideas would be awesome.

And what about clogged injectors? And are the injectors low or high impedance? And a dirty/clogged fuel filter could lead to sluggish performance.

I'm pretty sure they are high impedance. They are the stock 88TII injectors. They could be clogged but I really have no way of checking or knowing. Is there are certain way to check?

Having them cleaned and a flow chart comparing the before/after results.

Ok. I wasn't sure if there was some kind of easy home check or something like that for them.
