average price of a transmission rebuild?

I'm going to get a quote for a tranny rebuild tomorrow, and if anyone could give me a ballpark figure for a tranny rebuild, that would really be helpful. Just so I know I'm not getting way screwed or something.

Just a ballpark figure. I know you can't be precise because I don't know if its just sycros or if I need gears replaced etc.

Its being rebuilt by a tranny shop and its a 5 speed manual.

Also, how long does a standard rebuild take a shop? Thanks in advance.

Keep in mind that the parts on that website are made for racing. I don't really know much about transmissions, but I don't think that they put synchros in the racing rebuild. The "Transmission Sold Outright" pricing is probably a better gauge for the cost of a transmission rebuild, especially if you don't really know which hard parts in your current transmission need replacing.

Did you guys check out the other items? Good stuff.
