Aux ports and related Q's
Hey I tried search and kinda understand.
Im not sure if my ports work but im guna test them tomarrow cuz i gota go to prom in a few. The port towards the back of the car moves but not too freely and the front one doesnt move at all when i try to push it open. If they dont work how do i fix them, get them moving freely ?
i know they arent working now b/c the hose was cut before i got it. The cat has the nipple to hook the ports up to, so all i need to do to get them working again is buy a hose and conect them?
my air pump belt was also missing when i bought the car and im wondering if my cat is fried b/c the pump isnt hooked up? how would i tell if it is or not? if the cat is not functioning, will my aux ports still open or not cuz theres no backpressure?
I also have a hose comming out of the back of the engine that leads to the pass. side but i dont know what it goes to and its about 1/2 inch in diameter. what is it? and if i dont do i need to plug it?
sry 4 so many Q's but im just trying to fix the mess i bought.
THANKS Jon

87 N/A
It was a turbo but someone before me was a cheap *** and instead of trowing in another turbo or whatever needed tobe replaced, they threw in a N/A. That is why i think everything is messed up on my car. All the wires were spliced and some stuff wasnt even installed correctly.

That is probably the EGR line. Just plug it or remove & cap the whole EGR system.

The main cat needs fresh air or it will plug up.
On my 87 the torque rods that rotate the port sleeves were stuck, but the sleeves themselves were OK. There is a small plate that holds the rod in that's held on by two phillips screws. With penetrant & patience you can pull the rods and clean them. You really don't want to pull the lower intake manifold. The lower gasket is a royal PITA.
