Thumbs down Autozone and FC wheel Bearings... HELP!

So I need to replace the wheel bearings and seals for an FC turbo. Noticing that Autozone stocks Timken bearings for the FC, I make a trip down to purchase the parts I need.

Their website lists the following:

Timken Outer - SET11 - $9.99
Timken Inner - 32204 - $14.99
Timken Inner Seal - 1975S - $7.99

This is where it all goes wrong... In the store, I special-order "Inner" Bearings and Seals, and purchase the two remaining "Outer" bearings they have in stock (SET11).

A few days pass, and I go back to pick up the parts. My the seals are in, but the "inner" bearings are not. Not only that, but they can't get the bearings and suggested I go to NAPA.

While en-route to NAPA I speak with a local guru about my misfortune, and come to find that Autozone actually has the part numbers for "inner" and "outer" transposed. Worse, I can't confirm or deny this claim.

At this point I have no idea which set of bearings I hold in my hands. Does anyone have a picture of the inner and outer wheel bearings so I know which ones I have, and which ones I need to order?

HELP!

I sell timken and another brand of bearings at my work. I just looked up the part numbers, according to my book and my computer the numbers are correct. I don't know how your "guru" got his information, but as far as I can tell, he is incorrect. If you find out otherwise let me know. Just trying to help out a fellow rotorhead.

No, you misunderstand. The part numbers are obviously timken parts, but I don't know if I actually have an inner or outer. The last time he ordered an inner, with the computer-checked part number he got an outer... I need to a picture of an inner or outer so i can tell what it is I have before I go tearing my hub apart.

So then, the local guru was 100% right. Autozone IS selling the inner bearing as an outer. Wow, talk about incompetent.

the larger inner bearing takes most of the weight of the car which is why it is bigger, the smaller outer bearing is mainly for centering purposes(they are both equally important though), this should give you an idea when looking at bearings which is which.

Ok I see sorry about that. Glad to see you got it figured out. Good luck with everything. -Jeromy
