Auto conversion question
I few years back I did an automatic to 5 speed conversion using a turbo drivetrain. I bought brackets (two slabs of steel welded together with holes) and they seem to be holding up fine but here's the issue: I had to use the auto cross member because the manual cross member wouldn't bolt on to the bracket. Now this sort of worked except I couldn't fit the transmission bushings between the manual transmission and the auto cross member. So do I make custom bushings or is there a bracket that I can use to bolt a manual cross member? What are some ways that some people have done it? I searched and there really isn't much information regarding customizing the cross member.
I should also specify that the brackets and auto cross member hold the transmission up just fine, I just need to know what to do about bushings seeing as how I don't even have any on there at the moment and haven't for the past 4 years.

When I did my S4 auto-manual swap I used an S5 style transmission where the Y-Bracket bolts on to the transmission diagonally and the auto crossmember. Stock rubber mounts fit fine on it..
I don't know if the Turbo transmissions have the Y-bracket difference or not.. But assuming they do you might try to find an S5 one, which would solve the problem ^_^ [Or if you could find an S5 rear housing for the transmission]

I am using an S4 turbo trans with a S5 auto cross member. So would a S4 Turbo Y bracket and cross member fit on to a S5 turbo transmission? Because if they do, I can swap the ones off of the S5 Turbo that's sitting in my garage.

Since 87 t-66 said that, it sounds like it's the same situation as the NA cars.
To do this the [relatively] easy way, you'd have to swap to an S5 Turbo rear transmission [tailshaft] housing and S5 Y-Bracket onto your setup. Or if you have an S5 turbo trans swap that with its Y-bracket over to your automatic crossmember.
The problem you're having is that they are designed fairly differently.. The S5 and Auto Y-Brackets are exactly the same [well, the auto is missing a loop for the 4th bolt but that's inconsequential]
The S5 Y-Bracket bolts on diagonally to the transmission and has the mounts below; the S4 Y-Bracket bolts vertically to the transmission and has the mounts above and to the side of the bolts.
Or simply: the S5 Y-Bracket is much narrower than the S4, and the trans. housing is different between the two.
