recently, I saw many GTUs popped out for sale. so, I wonder how many are left, and owned by forum member here. If you own one, please post the picture of it(better with GTUs on it), and Vin# is possible(option)? brief infor or plan?

I will start with mine first.

Heres mine. I bought it for $500. The engine was almost blown, and I blew it a month later. Its getting a transplant from my S5 GXL in the next 2 weeks or so.

Information: Engine/tranny being swapped out for a running S5 engine. Also swapping front bumper as it didnt come with one. Currently gutting the interior and swapping with black interior from S5 GXL.
Plan: Turbo eventually.

Info: Right under 84k original miles, around 28-30k on Reman Rebuild. Has the aftermarket pop up sunroof. Mazdatrix short throw, Bonez High Flow Cat, N1 exhaust, drop in air filter, Aerodyne plate, Racing Beat Front Strut bar, Eibach pro kit springs, koni sport shocks.

Plans: Finish suspension, possibly replace springs and shocks, new exhaust, headers, streetporting at next rebuild.....much more to come....LOOKING FOR OEM FOGLIGHTS, IF YOU GOT EM IN GOOD CONDITION, LET ME KNOW!

And before you ask, yes that is a stormtrooper sitting on my dash....he has graced the dash of every car I've owned....so if you see a car with a stormtrooper on the dash, its probably me...

 

Looks like he just took the side bumpers off and painted. Looks kinda good.

 

Was that quote responding to my5ababys post? Because it looks like more than just the bumpers were painted, the whole freakin rear half of the car is blue.

Nice GTUs's guys. I notice Omixeo is the only one without a sunroof though. Damn dealers ruining the GTUs.

No, he painted the car half silver/half blue. Forgot who's car that was, there someone round here on the forum though. Was from Rotorfest back in '04 IIRC.

I need to get on here more often, I purchased my '89 GTUs around the end of last October From a former GM engineer who runs a road race rental company, he also had a red GTUs that had an encounter with a pole. I bought the car in all of its ten years of michigan daily driven rusted 140k miles, 1 of 1000 glory; took a 26 hour bus trip there and drove it the 1000 miles back to my house with no problem whatso ever. I proceeded to use the car as a pizza delivery vehical as well as the monthly auto cross (gotta feed the addiction, plus I got a lot of seat time with my car (20k miles)) with no major problems until last friday (8/11/06 at 11:40pm) when it was hit in the front left corner, a glancing blow that proceeded down her left side, all brought on by a large truck in the inside lane and an impatient 19 year old college chick in her boyfriends roomates car (who is yet to return from his vaction in florida at this time), a week later and I still dont even know if the car that was used to hit me is insured.

that was early february, two days after those picture it was clipped by a bad driver with color change paint and 20sumthins who thought the center lane was for merging into traffic, cops werent called and he lied about it but the damage wasnt to bad.

my dad liked the car and I liked auto cross so I got this for Xmas (not very appropriate for anything Im looking at for a replacement)

I dont think there will be any fixing it, as some things dont lineup under the hood anymore and IM sure Ill have to argue over what I get out of it.

 

89 gtus, kyb shocks and racing beat springs. gp sports kit widebodied. (gotta love the 275s in the back) =] TII engine with hybrid s5 turbo, haltech and full racing beat exhuast =]

 

Crappy 15" MB Motoring wheels. Going to get some new wheels pretty soon. And new springs to lower the car.

Co worker gave me this car, and I gave it to my son. Someone in it's past put some GTUs stickers on it, but they look good, so I left them. I had some discussions about this car a while back with some members on this board about this, but they set me strait. No verts were GTUs.

But the car is fun to drive, and we are slowely fixing all the little things it needs. Two major things it needs are a new top and a new exhaust.

Yah, I have to swap an engine/tranny and fix some electrical problems before then. Its a race against time for me.

 

I finally replaced most of the stolen parts but i need to install them and register it..........

 

Here's a picture from acouple years ago. Currently has 215,000mi on it with almost 100,000 on the rebuild. Still looks about the same. Mods are in my sig. I'd like to go turbo sometime in the future.
