atf helps in more ways then one
well did the atf trick today
that thing smokes like sm'itch. started it up and came back like 20 min later still smoking though almost died down... gave a few revs and it started smoking like crazy again..
the car does seem to have more power though I was not really able to tell... too busy sliding around outside due to the rain...
also you can find all your exhaust leaks with this stuff running through the car :-) found three today.
the car does idle a lot smoother though. no more backfires
I am curious though today my right muffler had the tip. pipe and all come out and now it is a lot louder and deeper sounding. I love it
though I am just curious could this cause any problem now? the muffler is still there just not the pipe that goes through it or the tip

well did a little run since the ground dried off a little
even though I spun the tires again I can tell the car was pulling a lot harder then before the ATF
damn this stuff works wonders...
though this stuff smokes like a bitch
any ideas on the muffler though? will this cause problems?

How long did you let your car sit for? O ya, how did you (if you did) turn the engine while it was sitting to put more ATF in? Thanks.
And about your question...never heard of any problems to the mufflers, just the cats but I have yet to do the ATF trick myself.

I let the ATF soak for about 18 hours
needed to get around and do a fewthings. as for how I got the motor to turn I just bumped the starter put some in bumped the starter put some more in. and just kept doing that for a few rotations just to make sure there was enough. then I moved on to the front rotor

took both the EGI comp and EGI inj fuse out
then I just sat there turned the key for a split second to get it to move a bit then put some ATF in and just kept ondoing that
you have AIM, ICQ or yahoo.
might be a little easier there
AIM = rxspeed87
ICQ = 4116192
yahoo = pokin_wee_willie
though I dont use yahoo much
and damn I thought I was the only one up at all hours of the night reading about the rx-7

that **** was funny as hell
I did it in my camaro once and it was not that bad put a whole thing of ATF fluid in there. but this car just kept smoking and smoking the entire time. I coulda swore the cops or fire dept was going to come and get pissed at me
one thing I would say is if you can do it at night thatwould be the best time
but yeah wan why not
hey with your sixports wired open doyou have any issues on driving the car around town like that?
what kind of MPG are you pulling?

great way to turn your motor
instead of using starter, use a ratchet on the main pulley bolt, e-shaft bolt. turn it in 60 degree increaments for each rotor, then you know you have put it in all chambers. you can go out a couple times during the process and turn the motor like that and that will ensure all is getting soaked.

forgot about that, when i did mine, bumped the starter, then while working on the car afterward, i thought of the idea. turned the motor over couple times during the soaking that way. thanks for keeping me straight.

I used MMO instead of ATF 'cause it's designed to burn unlike ATF. It still smoked like a bitch, but I haven't heard anything about it bothering cats, not that I have any.
While mine was stewing, I put it in 5th gear and pushed it backwards for a few feet.... and just listened to the motor make a couple of rev's backward. Then I put it in neutral and push it back in the garage where I started. I did this every few hours to slop around the MMO in the opposite direction of the usual rotation. Maybe it helped, maybe it didn't. That's what I did.
It felt like I just got a new engine!!!!!!!

the videos are kind of big. this is running of my dsl so my max upload speed is 15k if i can find a faster host then I will put them there. This is what it looks like after you start your car after putting in the ATF. the videos wanrun and wandriving are just videos of me driving my car after the atf treatment. the camera car is a '01 mustang GT. the other videos are of the smoke coming out of my exhaust and some shots of the neighborhood covered in smoke.
