ASV (air supply valve)

ASV (air supply valve)

I have a 90 turbo II and I was wondering what the repercussions would be of removing this valve? It bolts on to the UIM facing the firewall. What exactly does it do? BTW - I have removed all my emissions and have done the TB mod.

It bumps up the idle when a load is put on the engine...Like your PS for example.

I knew PS did, but was never sure about AC...

Nope, that's the BAC valve's job. The ASV is for power steering and hot-start assist.

I kept mine, modified it with a 1/16" orifice plug and rigged it to open with the electric radiator fan.

Does the ASV get it's air from the IC or does it dump it into the IC at load? The reason I ask, is that I'll be going front mount very soon and would like to keep the ASV and need to know where I should plumb it in.

Air is drawn from the intercooler into the plenum chamber, bypassing the throttle.

In theory you should, but considering how little air is drawn in, you could try just putting a little breather filter on its inlet instead. This air won't be metered so the engine will run very slightly leaner than normal when the valve's open, but I doubt this will be a problem
