Smile Arkansas new guy

Hello everybody. I am thinking of buying a nice 1988 10th anniv. with 72k mi. It has had a repaint but no bodywork. Intrior is said to be mint. The car is all original with no mods. I can buy it for $6500. Is this a reasonable price? I have only seen 1 picture and talk to the mechanic that has done some maintance to the car. He said it was the nicest one he has seen. He also said these cars are expensive to repair. He said if the motor goes it would cost $5 to $7 grand to fix. He owns or works at RX-7 World in Charlotte, NC. Could you guys/girls give me some good feedback on if this is a good price and what to watch out for? It will be a daily driver but only 10 to 15 miles a day. Thanks in advance for your help. Bo

That price is quite high. Most 87-88 turbo IIs go for $2000-4000 depending on condition. Yes, the 10ae's are rarer, and this one sounds like its in good shape, but I wouldnt go over 5 if it were me, even if I wanted it badly. Book is probably around $2500-3000.

As for the engine, he's full of ****. I rebuild these engines all day long for under 2 grand. Sometimes installed and still under 2 grand. I suggest you look around for other mechanics if that's the advice you're being given.

That dude is lookin to RIP YOU OFF.... Kevin is right... hell.. you can get a WORKED motor for 2500 bucks...

And... 6500... No way... HIGHLY MODDED TII's barely fetch 7.5K and they have to be freakin BAD *** to get that much...

Someobody is pullin the collector car value ticket..

You can get a nice runer for 3500-4000. Leave the 10th to a collector with more cash than brains...
