you can gain allot of performance while still being street legal by replacing the 3 stock cats with a single monolithic "perfromance" cat. My dad has a 91 gxl, when it was stock my gtech would very consitently show it as having a 15.9 second 1/4 mile. The cats where fine and the car passed smog every time. For around 125 dollars a muffler shop replaced all three cats with a single 2.5" catco monolithic and a 2.5" section of pipe with the apropriate flanges to bolt in, after which it would consitently do 15.3 on the gtech in the same section of road. The car just passed smog with the monolithic last month.

Overly loud, if you plan to DD the car..

That is, unless you have absolutely no taste whatsoever. If you don't plan to DD it, and LOVE attention (from people, and cops alike) go for these.

If you are keen to classy, cleanliness...

Racing Beat True Duals.

Those appear to be the "non-turbo" version of the N1 mufflers (or knock offs).
Ultrataco's look like N1 STYLE cans but not Apex-i N1s
yeah, i kinda figured that, as they don't say Apexi on them

here's how they sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kaddz1n1raI

btw, that racing beat cat back sounds great. Someday, I'd like to replace my entire exhaust system with the racing beat true dual setup

Keep in mind the first vid posted is on a turbo, so it will be louder. And it will be loud, and possible annoying on long drives. Mine gets really annoying on long drives. I had to get good speakers so I didn't blow them out trying to hear the stereo over the exhuast.
I know mine is a single N1, but here it is for comparison's sake: http://videos.streetfire.net/search/...58001f0db8.htm
You need to have good bass to appreciate it.

no....NA is louder than turbo. The turbo itself helps diffuse some of the noise. Exhausts will always sound louder on open piped NA than on open piped turbo. Great examples of the exhausts BTW.

hi, I have the Apexi dual N1 system (turbo version?) on my n/a with a Bonez highflow cat.. it's pretty loud but it's really not that bad. I would imagine with a header or a straight pipe it would be just too loud. I say go with it

Sorry, I meant that the video was of a turbo car, so it will be louder on an NA. I knew what I meant, but I guess it didn't come out in the post.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure that there is only one N1 dual (not an NA and turbo version), and it has 90mm tips. The single N1 has a 115mm tip.

No, no they are not, I just posted a video of a part I installed, ordered, paid for, etc., and decided it might be a good idea to lie about what they are.

....

Of course they are real. You can't tell at idle/rev, but while driving is when you truely come to appreciate the true duals over collected.

Oh and, err, why would you buy the NA downpipe instead of the header? The header is where 1/2 of the horsepower gain is made on an NA..

Actually with stock ports the header doesn't really have much gains. Why else would RB recommend a cheaper part?

Hi, I have a quick question for those of you who have the Apexi N1 Dual exhaust. Which hangers did you use for the y-pipe? Going by the exhaust hanger chart on the Racing Beat site, it says to use the donut shaped ones but it doesn't seem like they are going to fit. I was going to install my exhaust today but its finally snowing here in NJ!

I have the borla duals on my N/A high flo cat or stock either way sounds similar just a tad louder. Tone is deep with no raspyness.

they are slightly uneven on the car due to road debris from a truck in front of me mangleing the passenger side y-pipe. ARG!

I just ordered a Magnaflow muffler to replace my mid pipe.
It's just to loud right now.
I'll make a new video when I get it installed.

Hey Static, is it just me or does your whole car lean pretty hard to the passenger side? How do ya'll think a RB header, 3" mid, and Apex'i N1 dual would sound? I want loud, but I also want mean or deep. I love the sound of the first video, but I know that was a turbo. Any suggestions on that?
