You have to realize the chainsaw/rasp sound does not come from the catback.

It comes from the precatback items.

I had a straight through downpipe and a high flow cat on my NA and it had a rasp to it w/ the CS on there.
I got the Bonez DP with silencer to cat and it got nice and deep. No rasp at all.

I now have a TII engine with RB downpipe and Presilncer/cat replacement.
The car is LOUD but I'm use to it. It has a nice deep note to it but can some times get that droning on the highway.

I plan to buy the racingbeat duals to get back to a nice Police officer friendly noise level.
I do like the looks of the N1's but I haven't heard a TII with them on yet with no cat so I don't want to be stuck with another $500 loud exhaust.

Corksport is a quality exhaust, and SS will rust just so you know. The N1 is much quieter, but thats because it has a presilencer. It does make it sound better IMHO and I don't have it. My friend does. But the N1 does have smaller piping to go to the cat and that presilencer so it doesn't flow quite as good, but I'm sure its unnoticable.

I have the rb full turbo back on my s4 TII street-ported motor.

It stays pretty quiet at idle but can sound pretty mean when passing somebody at high revs

i tried to post my clip but can't get it going

I've never seen a CS exhaust, but the N1 I bought before I bought my RB was top-notch quality, and if I hadn't gotten a helluva deal on the RB i'd have stuck with it.

Oh, and "stainless steel" does not mean that it cannot rust, just that it is more protected from rust.

Personally, I was stuck deciding between the N1 Dual or the Corksport. After reading this post though, I think I'll just get the CS since I'm on a budget. Maybe I'll get the N1 Dual later on...=T

The N1 has a muffler not a presilencer. The N1 piping starts at 2.5 inches but gradully opens out to 3.5 inches. Which makes for better exhaust flow and sound.

So you think a full 3" exhaust won't flow as well as a 2.5" that goes to 3"? And I think its that pre"muffler" that makes the n1 sound better.

Yeah premuffler helps. Its a 2.5 to 3.5, yes I think it would flow more. All the huge turbo cars use 3 inch plus size exhaust. T56, T66, T88 etc.

Is the Cork Sport too large of diameter for an NA engine?

198512A,

Cork Sport makes both a TII and N/A exhaust. The 3 1/8" is to large for your N/A. You will need the N/A 2.5" version.

the n/a version still goes from 2.5 to 3. i have it on my car with a straight pipe and i now think it is too big for my n/a. it is loud. no low end power, but it really pushes you into the seat as you get higher rpms, but the backfire is keeping me from doing that on a daily basis.

Of all you CS owners anyone have a stock header with the CS catback?

I'm not a ricer, I bent my stock exhaust and won the CS catback at SS7 so I'm just gonna put it to use. ;P lol

But yeah so I'm wondering if with the stock header it'll still be loud as hell... I don't see why it should be with the low flow... high flow cat + high flow catback from a stock header should sound quiet right?

I've ran the CS catback with stock cats, it was nice an tame.

With gutted cats, it sounded horribly raspy.

With a header and testpipe, it sounded like a chainsaw from hell.

Now, I'm running it with the stock manifold and Boez (resonated) race pipe. It sounds great to me.

Okay I am a dumb *** and ordered the straight 80mm by mistake, when I should have got the one that goes down to 2.5". By the time I figured it out it was too late, out to ship and cork sport has been closed for SEMA. But anyways, should I send the 80mm back or could I just cut the end off and weld a 3" to 2.5" reducer and flange on? Does the 3 to 2.5 exhaust gradually taper down?

The 2.5" system uses the same pipes, but about 2" before the cat-side flange it tapers down to use a stock size flange.

The same goes for the test pipes, the 2.5" test pipe tapers down on both sides to stock size flanges.

If I where you, I'd keep the 80mm system and adapt the cat to an 80mm flange.

I love my Apex'i on my TII. it preforms great, its quite and deep. I hate that loud ricer exhaust, sounds like ****... I have many cars with a few exhuasts for each, and i prefer the quiter ones. if u want the attention then get the CS w/o the muffler, the only thing that will lead to is getting pulled over by the cops... which has happened to me many times. Good luck to you tho. my housemates N1 for the FD is straight piped, and w/ his port is LOUD, so loud is shakes our house when he pulls in. i guess to each his own.

Just an update, my Apexi exhaust is holding up vry very well. It's gone through 2 winters already (not driven much during the winter, but every so often) and after a little under-carriage cleaning it still looks brand new - zero rust. The coating they use works well...

I still think Apexi exhausts are a great choice each time I see one/install one. They always fit perfectly, are priced extremely well, and look/sound/perform well.

I got my CS exhaust on monday and I am amazed at the build quality for how much it costs! I have seen exhaust go for five hundred+ and not be this nice.

I'm running RB headers -> RB presilencer -> Corksport Turbo 2 catback (on an N/A)... way too ******* loud =\ i mean seriously, it is just insane. i do have a silencer though, i should try that. im thinking of getting an RB y-pipe and mufflers, more power... less noise!

Yeah Right now I am gonna get a test pipe but that is way too loud so I am either gonna get the RB presilencer or a muffler put where the test pipe goes
