Huge vacuum leak, right there.

so it WAS a vacuum leak...

well in any case at least you have an opportunity to fix the porting job that was done now.

I always thought that the primary injectors seemed to be too loose. I guess thats why.

I have another middle iron from the original engine but it only has the primary top diffusers in it. Mazdatrix shows that there should be a top and a bottom diffuser. I was told that the original motor ran perfectly until the PO blew it up.
So, is Mazdatrix correct showing an upper and a lower diffuser?

yes. two parts. top part is a small cylinder with two o-rings which mates to the fuel injector. bottom is the diffuser. That sucks you have to buy them. I think they're really overpriced...

it also might be that the primary ports on the ported iron are just too big for the stock ECU too, i would seriously think about using a stock or a more mildly ported one

Does anybody else think the "primary ports on the ported iron are just too big for the stock ECU"?
I am running the RTek 1.7, does that matter?

I was cleaning the rear iron when I noticed that the iron is cracked. The person that did the porting ground too deep and went with a few millimeters of going through the iron.

Now, I already have an extra rear iron and a front iron. So, I can get the template and try to match the porting on the other irons.
Or, I can find a middle iron and just switch back to no porting.

I'm not real interested in the 7 being the fastest around and neither I nor my friends have ever attempted porting.
But, it would be nice to be able to tell my guy friends that my 7 is street ported.

Comments???

The front iron that I have, that is not ported, is getting really thin at the top near the water passages but the one I have that is ported is in better shape. Can I use the ported front iron with the other two iron being non ported?

The narrow area is on the left pic, right above the lower water seal. The same area on the right iron is just a little wider .
