Did Mazda recently abandon the three-piece apex-seal design in favor of a 2-piece system? I recently received brand-new apex seals from Mazda, p/n N351-11-C00C, but they're a two piece design with just the apex and triangle piece. I went on Mazdatrix's website, and it looks like they still have a three-piece seal still available, but what confuses me is that Mazdatrix's p/n for the 3-piece seal doesn't show up on MazdaComp's system (you can rearrange the sequence of the numbers to make them work).

What gives? I know these seals aren't Hurley, or Atkins, as they're straight from MazdaComp.

 

The RX-8 uses them in 2 peice now so i am guessing the 3 peice are no longer made.

Mazda Changed the design to the new 2 piece renesis style. Unfortunately I do not know if the "old" clearance specs for the OEM 3 piece hold true for the new 2 piece. I asked mazdacomp about this friday and they did not know yet. John

 

I have posted on this before but here it is again.
mazda is making a new 2 piece seal as well as the
3 piece, if you got your seals from MazdaComp they are
sending out the 2 piece seals to all the racers but
if you ask they will send you 3 piece ones.
the new seals are a direct replacement for the 3 piece
and IMO will out last the 3 piece seal by more than double.

funny thing is that mazda canada thinks that the 3 piece is no
longer being made and will not get in the new 2 piece seal
until they sell all the old stock 3 piece seals, what they don't
know is if they keep restocking with the n3f1-11-c00 they
will never get the new n351-11-c00c seals, as usual mazda
canada doesn't know there *** from their elbow!!
we will see if the new 2 piece seals can be ordered
under their noses without them knowing,,, should have my
2 piece seals in a week
