apex seal problem?????
My daughter has a 87 RX7 that just turned 100,000 miles. She drove it to work the other day and was running fine, after work the car had no power and hardley ran. I went to ther RX7 experts in town to see about gettin it checked .They told me there was no use having it towed in to check because it had a bad apex seal. Can these seals go bad that quick?? They said about 3,000 dolars to fix.. Sounds to me like a vacum leak or sensor problem, but i'm no expert on rotery engins

The only way to be sure its an apex seal is to do a compression check. If you use a compression tool for a piston engine, take out the check valve thing. This will allow the gauge to release the pressure and show compression of all 3 sides of the rotor. Do a search on this forum for more detailed instructions, or shoot me an email or private message (PM).
