Anyone wire their S5 fogs through the parking lights?

I wired my fogs through the parking lights because my switch wouldn't work. Its an S5 GXL that the previous owner took the fogs out of. Well I didn't solder the connections at first and it shorted somewhere and blew the headlight switch. I replaced it and soldered the connections and it worked fine for a little while but now it goes in and out, meaning fog/parking/brake lights out and the guages get bright as hell, if I wiggle the connector to the headlight switch just a little it'll work fine. I'm gonna go ahead and replace the switch again and the harness because they both have burn marks on them. I just wanna make sure if anyone else has done it this way because i'll be pissed if I go through another switch/harness.

Thanks for the help

the parking lights dont supply proper electricity for fog lamps. they pull about 10 amps per light i believe... If your going to wire them through anything at least do it through the headlight motor leads. they will stay on as long as the lights are up.

use a relay that drawn current directly from the battery and use the parking light cable to trigger the relay's coil.

Fog Lights

I have wired the fog lights to run as Daylight Running Lights. They also can be switched to normal fog lights by the switch. Note that the lights run on six volts (connected in series) when used a DRL's. They are independent of any other lights. Hope this schematic helps.
