anyone who still has ac

can someone tell me, when the A/C compressor is engaged, is the front of it, right in front of the belt, supposed to spin as well? right now i dont think the compressor engages and that front part spins by itself. thanks for any help

1. yes the part infront of the pulleys is supposed to spin when the compressor engages.
2. I can't understand your question

i would imagine theres a connector of some sort that connects to the compressor and tells it to turn on. my question is where on the compressor does it plug in? and where it plugs into the car would also help

if your trying to see if it will come on.....if there is not enough freon (to use a generic term...no flaming) the comp will not kick on.

If you want to see how to fix it there are two threads in the archives that address what you should do next. look at the top of the page for a section called 2nd Gen archives click on it and you'll see the first thread. The second thread is on the second page.

There’s a few pictures that show the general area on the compressor, I can’t get any closer.

i just took more on the actual harnes. they kind of go in order.

The last picture shows the 6 pin connector that goes to the main harness

wow thanks alot. all looks the same on mine, but i just checked for continuity with an ohmmeter, and one of the wires that goes to the thing that tells if there is fluid or not has no continuity, so im headin to a friends house to rig up a new wire. hopefully that solves the problem

there is a wire that comes off the front clutch hub on the compressor, single wire and it is about 8 inches long or so, there is a single wire connector that runs under the battery tray that it is supposed to connect to.
