Anyone use a Dynomax Super Turbo exhaust system?
From what I have read, it is a stainless steel, mandrel bent exhaust sytem.
Is the system at least worth the money to invest in?
I am on a mission to rebuild my driveshaft and went to the parts store to see if I could cross-referrence the U-joint from the stock driveshaft to something replaceable from a domestic or import. Hey, a U-joint is a U-joint.
Anyway, I also needed a couple exhaust gaskets. The ones between the cats and mufflers. They are only .99 at Advanced Auto Parts by the way. The guy there was curious what else they had in stock for my car, after I explained what a rotary motor is and he started looking up exhaust systems and ran across a Dynomax system (Part # 17440) for only $259.99
He told me this is the whole system, I am assuming catback system or else no cats at all. Anyone know what this system consists of? I am nearly broke right now and would like to get a new muffler at least. My passenger side is plugged and my driver's side is a cheap piece of $*&#.
Let me know what you think.

Oops!
I was wrong on that one.
Super Turbo™ systems feature all-aluminized mandrel bent DynoMax® pipes for smooth exhaust flow.
That is from their site. Is this system worth a damn or not?

Yeah it is. I researched it myself, and right now, saving up the money to purchase it. If anyone knows where i could get a good deal on it, i'll buy it. (I wouldnt mind driving down to Odgensburg, NY to buy/install it)
Thanks

I have this system on my '87 for the past 5 years and it's starting to rot. It is a cat back and I'm looking to replace it. The price at Advance Auto is better than what I paid from Summit 5 years ago. I guess I'm going to Advance. The system is not SS. Only the tips are.

Well, I saw it up and will give an update I guess.....
I did buy it and I am very happy with my purchase. The tips look great after washing the car and a little chrome polish (works on s.s. too). Sounds great with gutted cats, gotta love the lack of emissions here in Michigan.

I've had this system on my car for something like 7 years now. I did a smart thing I guess and painted it first with high-temp something or other before installing it. Anyway, it's still going strong and makes a rather loud, but sweet, exhaust note. Honestly, I'd rather risk going through 2 or 3 of these for the price of one Borla or other "high-end" system.

That's great! I just ordered two of the HD super turbo mufflers from Jegs. 2.25" inlet / outlet and the case is 7" diameter and 25" long, hopefully they will give a streetable tone to a long collected primary setup I'm about to build. They're only $65 each and huge compared to the stock mufflers. I measured the muffler wells and there should be enough room.

Well, although I agree that resurecting an old thread isn't a big deal, your comment isn't really fair as RETed has said PLENTY of constructive things and has been a great help to me.

Once again, my thread is up here and I will once again speak up
I live in Michigan. Lots of road salt and potholes. Between the road salt rusting everything and the potholes knocking it loose, I am suprised any car lasts more than a couple years.
The only place I am starting to notice rust is at the welds. The piping is good and the mufflers are having no problem with the rotary breath. The tips need to be cleaned and polished again, but that is a weekly thing.
I would buy this exhaust system again without any regrets. It bolted on and looked great with very little modification (mostly just bending the hooks to make the O-rings fit tight)

I love this frigin exhaust. I got it installed about a year ago and its held up pretty good. I've recently put on the RB header to the stock cat and combined with the dynomax cat-back, its fairly loud, but has a pretty nice, throaty sound. Only problem is that at certain rpms there seems to be a bit of a raspiness to it. Driving under bridges or in underground parking lots is GREAT though

I totally agree with you on the parking garages.
I set off this guys V6 powered Camaro 4 days in a row. He doesn't park in that spot anymore cause one blip of the throttle over 3k prm and I make enough noise to scare his car into setting the alarm off.
2-3.5k rpm sounds really nice......over 3.5k and it is "Attack of the Psycho Weedwacker"

Bwahaha, thanks for the input guys, and Reted isn't as bad as he seems, give him a chance, he's an oldschool orthodox turbo rotor builder with a badass attitude.
