if you are gonna spend 150 on a shifter you may as well go and Buy Mazdatrix or Re Amimiya(sp?)..I got one of the short throw Miata conversions in My car.I found it gets loose after awhile, and the Bushing where the pin pivots the shifter will Wear out.I solved that Problem by gettin it filled in with steel.so Now it's like the old Stock Pivot Point.I topped it off with a "dinky" little Shift **** from a Jeep!..it's the size of an Egg.I really like it,it's Small but it shifts Quick!

^I put a miata shifter from a 94 in my S5 vert and it works great. Throw is noticably shorter and it looks nicer in my opinion. The best part is, it cost me $10.

the 1st link u put in there, i bought that one, it works fine, after u instal it tho if u decide one that one, lightly lubricate the shifter cause if u tighten those 3 bolts with no lubrication the shifter is a bitch to move. Only complaint is that its about stock height, i wanted it to be shorter like those cool honda shifters!!!!! But it does the job fine, no complaints so far and ive had it for about...3 months

My preference is this cheap one.

A little work with a file & sandpaper saves you some cash.

Here is it in use:

Even the dozen or so missed shifts weren't too bad.
I did OK about 2:20 in.

Boy have they jacked up the prices in the last year. I installed a Miata shifter into my S4. Work just fine.
Page on my install and the small mods neededto fit the Miata shifter (which is cheaper than the RX7 shifter...for the SAME ITEM)

Since it's not race legal I removed it and sold it for $50 (*with the ****!) to a friend... LOL.
Regards,
Crispy

i got one and ended up modifying it alot to make it work nice. ditched the plastic bushing and machined one out of bronze. the shifter i had wasnt made to be used with a upper bushing for some reason so i had to make a spacer on top to fit in a oem bushing. id say it works almost as good as the mazdatrix one but the difference might be that mine is on an NA and hte mazdatrix one i felt was on a turbo. so i dunno. i got mine for free so i dont care

My miata ebay shifter is great! It does rattle a bit, but for the quick shifts it does its job perfectly. All it required was a little sanding on the plastic bushing.
