anyone still running a complete stock exhaust?

i just got a ticket today for amplified exhaust. anyways...what i was wondering is if anyone has a factory exhaust still on their car. what i want to know is if the factory exhaust is louder (even if only a little bit) then any other car from that time period. i know that the temp of the exhaust is higher and there is much more output then a piston engine. the cops and court just dont understand how a rotary engine works and the fact that (in my opinion) will be louder then a normal car such as a cavalier or a mini van.

I still have the stock exhaust. Its a bit louder than my '87 BMW but its not that loud at all, at least IMO. I've seen other cars with significantly louder stock exhausts.

I've got a mild exhaust on, it's quiet... rotary's can be quiet, especially turbo ones. They just go better when they're loud

StockTII exhaust very quiet. You can pull up to a toll both and the attendant won't even know you're there.

Stock exhaust is very quiet, equal to any car. BUT, that is NOT the point!!

You might want to ask the *&^%$#@ cops what level of noise is permitted. Ask them for a test with a decible meter, and the acceptable sound level. Do not take this lying down, and it has NOTHING to do with your rotary engine. They pull this crap on everyone. Quite often these dickholes get off on their petty tyrany and overstep their bounds. DEMAND to see your state satute on auto noise for the specific year of your automobile and if they don't have one they have NO CASE. If you have not altered your emissions control equipment, you have not broken any laws unless there is a specific noise statute. Threaten them with litigation, have your day in court, talk to a lawyer, tell them to pound it!!!!

Make sure you contest the ticket. My friends get them all the time, and almost everytime they go to court to contest the tickets the cops don't show up. They know they have no case...

well i went to a cole muffler today. the guy there was impressed that i had normal sized exits and still a good sound. he wrote me a statement saying that there is still a cat, still 2 mufflers. he also stated that in his opinion, that a mazda exhaust would not be much if any quieter then the one on there. as far as the laws in my town go, they have been cracking down a bunch lately. they have even created an ordinace to issue tickets not for inadequete exhaust, but they are now issuing tickets that say amplified or modified exhaust. i questioned this, and they said that anything other then a factory exhaust is illeagal due to noise. and then i said to them, "so how come i always see the cop cars at midas? can midas get ford mufflers from the factory?" that shut them right up. there are drugs in the middle school, ****** on the street, and cops seem to have the extra time to give us car guys bullshit.

FIGHT THEM. They have no right to harass us. And most of all be smart, keep it quiet in the neighborhoods, no high RPMs, no WOT. Be smart guys, The Man is going to come after us if we keep being inconsiderate of others.

well if a cop pulls you over and says your exhaust is too loud and they don't have anything to prove it with their just saying its too loud (without that lil box noise tester thingy) you can fight than in court you should be able to get t dismissed

personally, i like to drive up through the parking decks which are closed in, you know, the ones that are in a building that go up in ramps. first i put my top down, then i turn my radio off. then i peel the hell out and redline, tearing through up to the top, dual exaust blaring so loud my ears hurt and i get scared somethings gonna blow up its so loud. then i shift and go through it all again, setting every car alarm off along the way.

i want people to feel my exhaust.. let alone hear it.... it's the nature of the motor and i refuse to tame her....

then again it's 3 inch with duel 3 inch free flow muffs no cats or silencer... and it helps to have 16 lbs of boost.....

i have no radio because the exhaust is music to my ears..

I still have Stock exhaust all they way back. You have to remember that a car thats 15 years old will develop some leaks whether they are in the manifold or the muffler. I know I have a few. Its not too loud though.
