Anyone running 245/40/17 fronts on stock (rolled ok) fenders?

I would really like to run 245/40/17 fronts to go with 275/40/17 rears on the vert I just picked up. The front rims would be 17x8.5 ET35 and the rears 17x9.5 ET38.

I made it through probably 25 pages of the ultimate wheel fitment thread, but still don't have a good feel for this. Right now the car is on stock suspension.

I am not opposed to light to moderate fender rolling to make these fit. Any coilovers make the situtation better? It would be great to get some input from someone running this setup.

Pics would be great if anyone has them.

I tried to put that same wheel size/offset on my FC a while ago, with 235/45 fronts, and 275/40 R. the front tires barely hit the strut(no coilovers, then), and the rears barely hit the trailing arm. for those tire sizes you will have to go with a little lower offset. I think though with probably 255's in back, and maybe 225's, or 215's in front, it would work with those offsets/widths.

So are you talking a 3mm spacer will make it clear the inside obstacles? Like I said, I have no reservations about fender rolling, but I want adequate clearance on the inside.

if you're not running coilovers, then you will probably need 5mm+ in the front and about a 10mm for the rear.

I am running those same tire config on my TII but with coilovers and a very low offset.
Front wheels are 17x8.5 +17 with a 245/40/17 with fender rolling and pulling.
Rear wheels are 17x9.5 +17 with a 275/40/17 with fender rolling and pulling.
And I am using Zeal V6 coilovers.

Are there any particular coilovers that give more clearance than others. I don't want to spend a ton of $$ on these. What about Ground-Controls on KYB AGX's?

245/45/17 fronts with +35 offset (yea sidewall is off..)

rears is 275/40/17 with +38 offset

flushness. the front rubs the coilover perch a bit and i have a 3 mm spacer. i think the huge sidewall may have something to do with that.
it doesnt touch the fender at all.

One thing you can do to gain a little bit of space up front with coilovers is to install some "crash bolts" and set them to their minimum camber setting (moves the wheel away from the strut), and then adjust the camber with the camber plates. This will limit the amount of negative camber that you can run, but will help give you the most space possible. Most people don't recomend crash bolts though, as they can slip, throwing the alignment off.

Here's a good site I've found to compare wheel and tire combos.
http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/info_specs.jsp

You can use it to compare clearance with some different setups that barely fit on either side and use that to develop theoretical limits that you can try to specify a wheel and tire within to fill it out to the limit on both sides.

What are your rim widths?

Doh, I screwed up. Those front offsets are actually off the BBS CHs from my BMW, the rims I am looking at are 17X8.5 +30, so they should be much closer to working.

But in all honesty, after seeing crashtestdummy's pics, I don't think I want that much tire (no offense.) While you can pull or roll the fender, that doesn't address the front bumper not covering the front of the wheel. Also the rear sticks out a good bit past the rear bumber cover. For racing I could live with this, but I am not sure about a street car.

Plus, all of this is going on a vert, and while it is going to be very high performance (I won't **** you off by describing the powerplant) it is not going to be raced. I think I will go with a more conventional setup.

17X8 +35 with 225/45/17 fronts and 17X9 +35 255/40/17 rears.

if they are off the bmw they will not fit the FC unless you change out the 5 bolt pattern.

BMW is a 5-120

Rx7 is a 5-114

I was just stating that I had gotten the offsets mixed up when I put it in the post. The wheels I am looking at the Enkei RPF1s in 5x114.3.
