Actually, has anyone painted ANY stock FC wheels? Post pictures of them if you have. These are mine:

Lots of degreaser and some sand paper to clean them, then some high temp engine paint.

Well the painting makes them look a *little* better. Those wheels are the ugliest Enkei's ever made IMO...

I didn't know that.

The stock 1990 GXL wheels are Enkeis? I didn't know that. They aren't my favorite either. I have 1989 T2 wheels coming soon. Seller is trying to figure out how to ship them.

Hey! I did almost the same thing to mine! They are only temperary though, till I get tires for my T2's. I think they look a little better than worn off silver paint anyway

Thumbs up I'm looking to do the same thing......

What did you use to cover the fake lug bolts before you painted? Or, did you figure out how to pop them out? If so, please share that nugget of knowledge.

interesting paint job.
those wheels overall are gross. they make a awsome car look bland. Of course their not as bad as the rotary phone ones. YUCK.

I've been looking for a set of 91's for a while, I have a set of 87 t2 rims and the stock 89 gxl's. Does anyone know the weight of the 89+ t2 rims?

The last time I had my rims off, it seemed that my 15's weighed ALOT less, like 10 lbs less than the turbo rims.

**** I hope they aren't that heavy. I just ordered some to replace my 1990 GXL ones at the top of this thread.

the 87-88 rims seem like they have more mass to them than the 89-91 T2 rims. the series 5 mesh ones have a lot cut out of them. were the 87-88 one aluminum or steel?

Care to be a little more specific? You're saying just take a philips and poke them out from behind or what? I'm looking to do the same thing, but don't want to break the connectors that hold them in.

Thanks in advance for more detail

No, I used a flathead and pried them out from the front. They shouldn't break if you're gentle. You may have to glue them back on after you're done. Just try getting one off, and do whatever is easiest for you. It may work to poke them from behind.

The 89-91 TII rims are very light...like 15 lbs apiece. They look slick as **** and aren't terribly hard to find. I'm thinking about powdercoating mine black... :p They are a bitch to clean though!

Yes, they are 16s, and no they aren't quite the same as the vert wheels. I'm going to paint mine white so they should look like RarestRXs:

I don't like the mesh ones at all....
I had the Enkies on my car stock, but I put on some 88 TII ones.
Any one notice that there are two types of the turbine style rims? Some have about 8 vents while some have, like, 5.

I removed the clear coat from mie, than polished them mirror!
Looks pretty good, I also popped out the center caps, polished them mirror, and painted the MAZDA logo in red. Not bad, but I want some nice 17" five stars of some kind.

Sorry, no pics.

You've got to be kidding me....
Oh, well, everyone has there own tastes, I have posted things that I think look amazing and other people don't really like.
Rx-7 fans are a unique bunch.
I still get to say they're ugly though! (The wheels, not rx-7 fans!)

Happy new year everyone.

Well I hope you live in the southwestern US so you can give a phoney excuse ;-)
Damn dust!

and anyone have the weight of the 89-91 T2 16" meshers?
And did all Series 5 T2's come with those wheels?
I personally love the look and think they would be great to keep it "in the family" and probably cheaper to get some moderate condition used ones instead of $1200+ on namebrand wheels.
