AutoX is great! I have probally run about 10-12 times. Best way to have fun with these cars at the inexpensive level!

I went to an Auto-X Yesterday afternoon ( I didn't run.. damned oil seals ) and saw a black GTUs. Correct Wheels, Correct Mirrors, No Sunroof, Series 5. I've been asking around like MAD to figure out who it is. It didn't do that bad, sounded stock, but was still beating the CRX's and Turbo SAAB's. More importantly the owner went home with a hot latino woman in the passanger seat. Ahh the greatness of an RX-7.

If you have aftermarket coil springs and different size rims you are in CSP, maybe SM2. I can't remember if our cars were moved with the stock class restructure for 2002. I'm building my 2nd gen to run in F-Prepared. 200HP N/A engine with #2250(maybe less) to move around. Should be running again in a few weeks. Planning on having some fun.

No Civics run in CS. I think FC got put into ES from what I heard, I guess we will be racing those Civic Si, still slow. I could beat them on street tires

Stock N/A's got put into E stock.

N/A's with mods are in CSP.

My question is, reading the rules, it seems like a whole lot of stuff is allowed in CSP, so why are there so many people running in F-prep? I guess F-prep is a full out ***** to the wall race car

Ok, I was at one yesterday too and I saw a couple FC's. when I autox'ed last season I was in CSP. All the FC's I saw yesterday were in Estock, but wouldn't a modded fc now go into ESP? why the change in classes?

There are certain things you can't do in CSP that a lot of enthusiasts like to do.
Cross drilled or slotted rotors? - You're in Prepared
Removed some of your interior to save weight? You're in Prepared
Porting? You're in Prepared

SoloIIdrift - I can't answer your question. Here in Alabama I only know of two other FP cars and one of those is a BMW and the other one is now a SoloI only car. I wish we had more people in FP.

There was a major restructuring of the stock classes for this year. The Street prepared clasees changed a little, but not nearly as much as stock. Your stock letter doesn't necessarily dictate your street prepared classe.

NA FCs are still in CSP. Most of the ESP cars come from F stock. That would be all the V8 mustangs and F bodies. You definately don't want to run there in an NA FC.

If you're looking into R-compound tires, you should give heavy consideration to the Kuhmos. They're the least expensive and provide good grip and treadlife (for an R compound). The fastest R-compound is the Hoosier, but they wear very quickly and tend to become square in the hands of racers with less than a year of experience.

If you've only races a few times, hold off on R-compounds until you have at least 6 events under your belt. If you go to R-compounds too soon, they tend to be more of a crutch for your driving deficiencies.

I used BFG R1s, they are discountinued now. I would go Kuhmo if I could race again, but from what it looks like. I wont be able to autox until 2004.

If you are going be there early, tons of people show up. I am going out today to look for a trailer, I am moving up from loading my hatch full of tires, rims, compressor, cooler, ect ect. I will be awesome to just load the car behind the truck and roll.

I've autocrossed once but somehow I don't like the pressures of AutoX. Does drifting count? I semi-drift in AutoX events over here in California but I rather watch than drive in those events. Mountain driving is my preferred choice.

I was at Atlanta's second points event yesterday and a good time was had by all. There were two 86s, an 87 'vert, at least one FD, and three or four FBs.

After running two events on on some used Kuhmos a nice Miata guy gave me, all I can say is WOW! Sticky is the ONLY way

Cory
Have not taken a picture with my new class letters yet, just got them done on Saturday...

I've run about 12 events in my 90 GTU. I had pretty good success last year too WITHOUT R-compound tires. I'm not running this year howerver as I'm up in Canada attending the Bridgestone/Firestone Racing academy. Unfortunately I couldn't afford to bring my RX-7 here with me.

Well, the autox's here are really really tight. The course on sunday was bringing in times of around 30 sec for fastest time of day. I'd be somewhere around low 32 sec or so. I didn't race this one but I got some pics.
