Anyone know what this thing is?
Anyone else have this? Its by the passengers side strut tower.

It's your Air/Fuel Idle mix screw...don't touch it unless you want to spend hours trying to get it back to where it was. If you dick with it your engine will refuse to idle.

Free manual at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/Technical_I...ice_manual.htm look in the Fuel section for turbo and in the index for variable resistor like the man said*ZACKSPAZZ*. Used for setting your idle. Most likely been screwed with sometime in the past. Generaly to be found in its mid position. Has only about 1 or less revolutions to it, so don't force anything. Small amount of turning will affect the idle mixture. Mark its position prior to turning it at all so you can find your way back home after getting confused about whether the car is running better or worse. Last time I looked mine was putting out 2.65 volts to the ECU. Each car will differ some.

Sounds like you had a problem with yours. Normally, it's easy. You just adjust it for highest RPM at idle.
