I am trying to remove the clip things that the screws for the scuff plate screw into. I have tried being gentle. I don't know if there is a trick or just muscle it out.

There should be two clips that hold it in and you need to squeeze them together on the back side.

If worse comes to worse try sticking a lollipop stick into it and when you finish your seal job it would probably not pull out but you could then cut it off and drill out the remainder since the stick is just made of paper. Also, would you mind taking a few pics of your project and share them with those of us on this board.

Yes, it looks like maybe next weekend if the Foamseal shows up on time.

I don't see anyway of getting them out on the backside. Anyone else familiar with removing these. I figure I can just tear them up to get them out and just buy new ones. I assume these are still available from Mazda.

Try using two flathead screwdrivers from the top on each side to push in and pry up at the same time.

Thanks, I bet that will do the trick. I have spent about 3 minutes in total with these. I know they are not that big of a problem. I am just going in about 10 directions at once on this car.

If you remove them then how are you planning on putting them back in once you've fillied up the sills with foamseal. Seems if you remove them you just cant place a piece of tape over it for the foam will rise to at least flush with the metal panel that the plastic piece is set in and there will not be room to put them back. I thought my previous idea solved the issue with very little work involved.

I am thinking that the Foamseal is going to ooze out between the sill and the clip. If I put tape over them there is still room for the FS to ooze. When I get them out I will put in a plug. That will give me enough room to replace them when the plug is removed. I thought if the FS is super hard that I would just drill down in the hole enough to get the clip back in. This is all just speculation. I did pm Icemark with some questions on his attempt but he has not gotten back to me yet. I am waiting for the weather to warm up and then I am going to take a serious look at what needs to be done.

By the way, if I find out that the FS would not ooze out between the door sill and clip, I will look at your suggestion very seriously. It makes good sense...
