i cant seem to fit my jacks underneath the FLoor Rail and the jack always hits "Flush" to the Rocker panel and scrathes the paint (OUCH) is there a company thats makes jacks a Bit smaller

yes that should give u enough ground clearance to slide a normal floor jack under

 

they do make some pretty slim jacks that i usually use on my car, but as also stated, drive your car on some 2x4's and then you should have no problem.

I would be surprsied if you needed the latter though, the former goes pretty damn low, and it's great that you can carry them around easily.

 

****! I wish I knew about these a couple weeks ago. I could have added that second one to my Xmas list! Damn, raises to full hight in just 6 pumps! Time to ditch the POS I got that takes like 40 pumps to get to full height!

I have the Craftsman 1.5 ton aluminum racing jack from Sears and I love it. It looks very similar to that second one linked above - 3 3/4" to 18 1/2" height and raises to full hight in 2 pumps. I got it for 100 bucks, but I think it was on sale. Its still less than the harbor freight one and almost certainly higher quality.

Don't let the relatively low price of the $79.99 HF aluminum one fool you, it's quite nice and considering the 'better' ones are more than double the cost... it's a great value. Also if you examine the description it has a 3" minimum pad height, the "low profile" one actually has 3.25" minimum pad height - so the low profile label is actually misleading. It is low profile for a 4000lb jack but the 3000lb $79.99 jack is lower, and 3000lb is perfectly fine. You generally only jack a fraction of the cars weight, I can't remember a single time where I had a whole car on a single jack.


You can't go wrong with this option, although sometimes harbour freight has ridiculous sales on these jacks so you might want to just keep an eye out and wait for the right sale... even $79.99 is a bit high for what it is IMO.

 

I was referring to the 200 dollar one, in which case you would be better off getting a craftsman one or something. The thing I like about it is the max height, which is 4 inches higher than on the 80 buck HF one. On our cars, 4 inches is a huge deal.
And yes, they do have crazy sales. If you can get there around the grand opening, there are some really crazy sales. I got a brand spanking new engine hoist for 90 bucks!

 

TAKATA makes special plastic ramps to get a jack under a lowered car but I'm sure boards work just as well for a lot, lot less.

Although they'd probably be more convenient on track days...
