Anybody familiar with '91 wiring harness tell me where this goes?

I've been chasing shorts in this car for 3 days now. This one blows the fuse, which takes out the leaders. Traced it to this bundle, unplugged this connector, and the short goes away. There are two yellow connectors, the mustard yellow and the bright yellow, behind the kick panel on the passenger side. The bright yellow is where the short resides, and it's somewhere in the bundle that goes into the dash. Can anybody tell me where this goes? TIA.

Coil.

Cut two wires, short gone, car starts. But, it still runs like crap (for those following the saga). This is soon to be The Most Expensive FC Ever, and it'll be all stock. :ugh:

Fortunately there's no more engine codes, which means the running like crap is even harder to fix now!

First you need to buy a fsm. Secondly that is the connector called FEM-02. FEM means Front harness to Emissions harness.

Those wires go all over. The Black/Yellow on the Emissions harness side of the connector feed the fuel injectors. The Black/Yellow on the Front harness come from the Main Relay.

The Black/White on the Emissions plug feed the AWS on the engine. The Black/White on the Front plug half comes from the Main Relay and also feeds the ECU pin 1B and the Check Connector.

The *other* black/white on the emissions side of the plug, feeds all the solenoids on the engine and the mop etc. The *other* black/white on the Front side of that plug comes from the Main Relay.

The Brown/Black on the Emissions side of the plug is the ground for various sensors on the engine like the boost sensor, tps etc. The Green wire it mates with on the Front harness plug side goes to the gauge cluster.

The Green/Yellow on the Emissions harness plug is the boost sensors output signal and mates with a Blue White wire on the Front harness plug and is going to the boost gauge in the cluster.

The Blue/Red on both the Emissions and Front part of the plug, are for the wipers.

The Blue/White are wipers and Blue/Yellow are for the wipers. Same color on both parts of the plug.

The pure Blue is for wipers, both sides of the plug.

Frankly speaking, I don't have a series five fsm or ever put hands on a series five. But you can see how easy it is to tell what wire does what by looking at the wiring schematics. You need to buy one.

That's as far as I care to go on that plug. Someone else with a wiring schematic can followup. My guess is that one of the Black/White wires is one that you cut to get rid of the short.

Yeah, I'm (well... my dad is) looking at a Haynes and AllData. The line, "schematic is for 89 and similar" is quite hilarious. I think this is the last S5 I put hands on, too.

Thanks for the info, BTW.

What was the color of the wire you cut???? The one that made the short go away?
