Any tricks to taking off the turbo manifold and heat shields??
Any tricks to taking off the turbo manifold and heat shields??
well long story short. i was doing the acv removal. dropped a nut down into the turbo. cant fish it out with a magnet. well i have a down pipe i was gonna do and i wanted to do the wastegate porting. while i was in the general area. well im stuck on the heat sheild. its loose. and the vaccum line that runs to the banjo bolt in the front of the car is rusted onto the bracket on the heatshield. and i cant get it off.. im about 1 step away from hacksawing the braket right off . and making a new one when i put it back on . also
can any one briefly jot down the step for removing the mainfold?? i was gonna take down the down pipe. and go from there. my haynes manual isnt helping much .

In short, take off the UIM, unbolt the turbo from the manifold, fish it out if you dont have any accesories in the way (acv etc.) , unbolt the 4 bolts from the manifold to the motor, fish it out and youre done. Sorry if i over simplified but ive had my turbo on and off 4 times in the past two weeks so its getting a little old
thanks .. its wierd i didnt thing to rip the uim off. ive been trying to get it of with out it .. but now that i think about it .. there is no real way to get it out if i dont. heheh .. well anyway i got the bracket off and the front sheild it off. well on top of the control arm . but ill pull the uim ,, i guess it might be time for some port matching i guess
ps how important is the restrictor pill for the pressure sensor??
