Yep, I plan on getting another pipe to stick on the end of the maf to run the intake down into the bumper. As of right now intake temps in the summer get very hot and hurts perfomance quite a bit.

Talking pics

this cost me $40. 92-95 civic intake. not a true "cold air" but there are no harsh bends, it looks better than PVC and is less than half of Banzai racings unit.

S5 sensors don't have that flapper door issue.

I'm seeing a lot of unshielded metal pipes and unshielded filters in the engine bay pictured here. Measure your intake air temps and you're in for a surprise. You need to build a cold air box around the filter and shield the intake tube.

do your guys Bov's make any sound on the hot side of the IC?

I have a blitz.. it doesn't do anything.... i think the TMIC absorbs most of the airs "shock wave" on it's way back...

or maybe 7psi just isn't enough

BOVs should never be mounted on the hot side of an intercooler. They should be mounted as close to the throttle body as possible.

The pipe between the AFM and turbo is not a "cold air intake". All the pics shown so far are the exact opposite...

Yeah, this is a highly debated point.

If the BOV is mounted closer to the turbo, you get "faster" opening of the BOV but you end up with stalled intake charge all the way up to the throttle body.
It takes time and effort to get all that intake charge moving again.

If the BOV is mounted closer to the throttle body, there is less strain against the throttle plates but you need to repressurize that entire intake tract to get boost going again.

So...pick your poison?

Isn't cold-air intake where you actually run pipe under the front bumper so you suck all the cold air off the road and in some very bad cases, water from a puddle. Those all look like short ram air pipes (at least thats what AEM calls them :p)

you guys are seriously gonna make me search for you... again. fine..... im gonna start ptting up my paypal addy. I could do like HKS and chanrge $5 just to talk about it.

i found another CAI thread that i searched for someone that didnt..... I searched for CAI and TID. its that easy.

"you can make a full cold air intake for $100 or less.... prolly alot less.

search... hell ill search for you. give me 1 min.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...5&highlight=cai

there is one of the countless threads... that one has pics. ill find more.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...8&highlight=cai

thatone is a write up of how to do it. both of those are for a CAI....

if you want a "short ram" then just do the same without cutting. use a shorter pipe. 3" filters and adapters are everywhere on ebay... hell higgi sells one too."

look guys that was from 1min of searching. this topic has been covered over and over.

Get a few cupplers from autozone. a filter adaper. a piece of 3" pipe with a 30degree bend in it (muffler shop, abs, or import intake). cut to lenght. attach bent pipe to turbo and afm. attach filter adapter to other side of afm.remove washer tank and cut hole. get another piece of pipe with a 45 or 90 degree bend. attach to afm and other end through hole you cut. attach filter to it.

order a fmic piping kit from ebay. they come with enough pipes to make a few CAIs... they are $100. here is one on ebay now:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-Int...95587551QQrdZ1

its your car... its not that hard to do. no one on here can make an exact parts list for you to take to home depot. Getting dirty and learning about your car is the fun part. Getting in there lets you see how everyting works so next time when you need an answer it will make more sense knowing where the part is.

have fun and dont cut any wires.... please. As much as we all like "what does this wire go to" threads... just take your time.
