Any guesses?

Can anyone hazard a guess as to what these two wires are for? One is blue with a black strip and the other is a black with a white strip. The round thing on the left side of the picture is the resevoir for the power steering pump. It looks like it is part of the main engine harness.

Yes, the AC compressor is still installed and works. The 'B' nut below the wires is the low pressure line going into the back of it. The compressor is connected. when I turn it on, the mag clutch engages and cold air flows.

PS this is a 1990 T2. I didn't mention this in my original post. Does that make this car an FCS4...an FCS5? What do those mean. I know what the FC part is, just not sure about the others

Considered checking the wiring diagrams in the Factory Service Manual (see FAQ) or Haynes manual?

Talking

I may not be of much help but I have spent the last few weeks chasing all sorts of wiring around my engine bay and interior... where is this pic located? I can't tell from the picture... I realize your car and my car are diffrent models but I'm learning these diagrams rather fast What is that pair of wire located next to ? Take another pic and use a flashlight or something to illuminate it... I'd like to help if I could.
I am myself rather new to the cars and I do believe yours is s5 (someone slap me if im wrong.. but im learning.. hee)

Good luck!

The wires are located above the lines going into the AC compressor, behind the power steering pump resevoir. I've tried using the FSM and the Haynes manual but they aren't a lot of help. The assumption is that you know where the wires connect, otherwise you are looking through nearly every schematic for those wire colors and there are a lot of them. I wonder why auto manufactures don't use a wire numbering system like they do on aircraft, then all you'd have to do is look up the wire number. I've been an aircraft electrician for 27 years and auto wire schematics a generally the most difficult to trace out.

The Haynes and the FSM both label wires with the colour, and the harness they are found on. EM = emissions (EFI harness). F = Front harness, etc.
