Any chance on moving the sway bar forward?

Hey guys,

I just got my 86 running. I swaped in a 2.3 turbo ford engine. My problem is that the front pully rubs against the sway bar when hard breaking, or acceleration. I understand that the sway bar shifts as load is put on the suspension. Is it possiable to shim the sway bar to move if forward a half inch?

thanks, i'll post pics later

haha, so much hate, i still have 2 other 7's with rotaries.

If i grind a quarter inch off a 2 inch long section of the center of the sway bar will that seriously effect its performance?

That is God's way of punishing you for swapping out the rotary engine.

Hehehe, j/k.

I think it is a bad idea to grind down the sway bar. Do you think a speedway type bar would work?

Yes, the bar will be less effective if you remove material from it. In addition, your grinding will most likely create a stress riser in the material and it will fail there.

Can you shim the engine up or the swaybar down? Or both?

you could just remove it all together. drift guys do it in there FC...

or cut out the section that is rubbing and weld in a new section that is pushed out, kinda like this:

Agreed. It's a common mod with the drifters to take it out.
