Anti-freeze in exhaust

My 1990 non-turbo got a rebuilt engine in 2003 at 108 K miles, when the factory tip seals failed. The rebuild came from Hayes Rotary Engineering in Redmond, WA, with an impressive warranty. The rebuilt engine has been fine. Hayes has subsequently gone out of business.

Now, at 130 K miles, the engine has suddenly begun to produce large clouds of mist out the tailpipe that smells strongly of antifreeze. It also runs badly. If this were a piston engine, I would of course look for a blown head gasket. But in this rotary engine, I don't know what kind of failure would produce this result.

The car is parked until I diagnose the problem.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

I believe that this means that your coolant seal in the engine is going out, or has gone out.

This means that you are going to want to look into a newer engine, or a rebuild.

If you are going to rebuild, I suggest a streetport while your at it. Might as well while the engine is out.

Sounds like the coolant seals or the seal retaining walls have failed. This requires a rebuild.
