What is this exactly?


And what is this section of wire harness?


What is this section of the harness go to "the cut loom coming off of the ECU, and also the yellow plug higher up on the harness"?

 

First Picture: That is the black box that is usually connected to the JDM S5 Turbo harness, USDM cars don't have it, and it's "use" has (as far as I know) never been really figured out. I remember a while back there was a effort to pull the ecu apart and really figure it out, but It lost steam.

2nd Picture: Engine bay harness, or atleast part of it. The big silver thing is the master relay, the fuse block. Looks like it is from a non-turbo since it SEEMS*** to have the alternator wiring on it at the top of the picture. Or it could be the battery connections, I can't see the top, probably battery connections.

3rd: Yellow plug higher up in the harness goes into the "body harness" of the car. Essentially a connector that connects the "Body" electrics to the "engine" side.

Where does this black box get mounted? And the only related wires I could see are in that cut loom off the ECU? I want to attempt hooking it all up and running it since I'm running nothing but just the engine on the entire car
