Another Water Thermo ??

Can the water thermo sensor go bad one min and then good the next.
I have intermittent black smoke surge and it seem like it is load up really bad. Then the next minute it runs really smooth.

The water thermo code comes up for awhile and then goes away.

I don't think it is a loose connection because I run a multimeter across the pins on the ECU and the voltage was in range with no spikes or drops .

Thank you

Id run a new cable fron the waterthermo to the ecu just for good measure.
Mine was Fcked and I replaced everything until I found out it was just a crapped wire.

I Believe one goes to ecu and the other just to ground

Yes that correct. I may try that. What are the symptoms of a bad water thermo just so I can see if it is bad. But 9 chances out of 10 it is the wire. I am go to wait until I can drive the car and measure the voltage across the pins for a couple of day to see what it is doing (I need to build a datalogger so I will be able to tell when a sensor is not working or bad but lack of knowledge is stoping me. Can anyone help if willing to )
