another sunroof question

my sunroof was broken when i got it and the motor didn't move at all, so i found a good used motor one out of another 7. after testing to see that it rotates both ways i screwed it in and all it does is spin either way not much of a clicking and i can't get the sunroof to open with help at all. tried to wrench it open but it just makes me think im going to break the wrench and still doesn't even think about moving the sunroof. also i don't think its rusted shut because when i push up on it i can see it slightly pop up and down.

any ideas?

thanks

Well, there's a good chance your sunroof actuator cables are stripped out. If there's no teeth on it or the teeth have been worn down, the teeth on the motor won't grab it correctly...

I have a write-up on how to take the assembly apart and what not.. it might help you.

I don't think you HAVE to... but it makes the job a LOT easier.. also, gives you a good opportunity to clean out the tracks and make your sunroof a LOT more enjoyable.

The cables that that operate the sunroof can get rusted shut like they did in my case. The only fix is to take the sunroof out completely to be able to clean the cables.
