Question Another body question

Im probably starting to get annoying, but I keep thinking of things right as im about to go to bed. Ok, has anyone pulled the black plastic trim pieces off of their FC? By that I mean the black trim that runs along the door and the front and rear bumper. I think it is really ugly, and I don't have money to paint it right now. It looks like on some of MAriah's cars they just took it off, but I was wondering if anyone had done that and just left it, and whether or not it looked like ****. thanks.

I think that if you just rip them off, then yes they will look like ****.
If you really want them gone, then they have to be filled w/ some kind of body filler and painted.

yeah I had a feeling I would get that answer. The thing is that one of those trim pieces is beginning to peel a little on the drivers side door, and I don't want to put more back on, I'd rather just rip the **** off or something because it is ugly as hell anyways. Do you know if a body shop could just paint that trim? Or even how much it might cost?

my bodyshop repainted my black rubber trim red.

I dont have pics yet, but I will soon.

they look very similar to the 89-91s, and i like the look a lot better.

This was when I got the whole thing repainted, so I dont think it would be feasable (sp?)for you.

heres a pic contrasting the trim off/on look.

they took that piece off because it was crooked, it must of fallen off and the previous owner did a crappy job of putting it back on.

a crappy pic, but i think you get the idea
There are other pics of FCs with shaved moldings or simply them taken off totally. I dont like the shaved look (too slab-sided) but the trim-less indent looks pretty good.

Good luck!

Yea, mine was torn on the passenger side door. I pulled it off, and yes it looks like crap! I think it degrades the look alot. I'll get the body shop to put it back on when I get it painted.
