Aluminum Spare question

What size is the tire on an aluminum spare off an 89 TII and where can one find a replacement? I just sold my spare and the buyer can't find a place that sells tires in that size.......I tried tirerack.com, no good
Thanks in advance

Should be in the FSM-for the 86-88 the turbo alum. spare size is listed as T135/70 D16, not sure if it changed for 89.

Try and look for some motorcycle drag tires...

I hope you're talking about a damn fast drag car, as it's unsafe to be doing this for a "slow" (over 10 seconds) vehicle.

unsafe? why's that? and i don't think motorcycle tires have anywhere near the load rating to hold up the front of an RX. I know spare tires aren't supposed to be run over 55mph, but that is for continuous operation. intermittent speeds nearing 100mph won't hurt anything, IMO.

The speed rating is more for the tire on the spare rather than the wheel.

If your car runs faster than 10's, I doubt you'd see any change in performance running skinnier tires up front.  Skinny front tires drastically reduces steering performance, so why not stick with stock sized tires?  I'd rather try and keep the car from trying to hit the wall rather than trying to shave off 0.000001 second of your 1/4-mile time....

Now, if you're driving a 9-second or faster drag vehicle, the just ignore what I just said.

my car certainly won't be less than 13 in the quarter. tell you what, i'll run it both ways, several times each, and see if i come up with any conclusive evidence that supports the idea.
