aluminum for Block off plates?

I wanted to make my Own Block off plates for the Lower manifold.I have some Aluminum(pretty thick stuff) that I had used and made a Rad Panel out of it.I have lots left over so I wanted to make BOP's..
Question:is it OK to Use aluminum for the Block off plates, and not steel?..I am going t o make gaskets also.
Thanks,STYX.

as long as it doesn't flex your good on a turbo. take some black stuff silicone and cover the whole backside with a paper thin layer and everything will be good. even those nice thick plates that cost $45 will bend if you pry them off lol black stuff rocks!
