Alternator questions!
Okay, this is the new chapter in the saga of fixing my water pump gaskets.
After getting everything back together, my battery was dead from running the stereo. I jump start it, and I'm good only while the other car is hooked up.
After I disconnect the cables it runs for about 30 seconds than starts to die. If I rev it.. it will act like it's got power for a second, then starts to die, acts like it has power, starts to die.
I had checker test my battery earlier, and it's fine. Had the alternator tested, and the failure light would flicker every now and then.
The guy said that the alternator wont charge the battery, just keep the battery at a certain level of power. My question is.. .do you guys think the alternator will be ok for a while... or do you think the battery will just drain again?

the battery will probably drain again.
Try hooking a multimeter up to the alternator, then hit it (the alternator, not the multimeter) with a rubber mallet. If the current indicator bounces around, the alternator is bad, if the needle barely moves, the alternator if fine.

I have NEVER heard of that before! What exactly does that test?
