alternator going bad??!!

I have a 87 tII, as i was driving home i had my windows down and it started to get chilly, so i was rolling them up (power windows) and when they got all the way up, my turbo timer turned off and turned back on.

i was a little confused so i just did my driver side window and nothing happened, then did my passenger and nothing happened, but when i pulled up on both at the same time, my turbo timer would turn off and turn back on....almost every time i did it. so as to not screw anything up maybe, i stopped messing with it till i got home. When i pulled in, i tried to do it, but it wouldn't but i notice everything dim on my car(idiot lights, headlights, gauge lights) whenever i use something that requires power.(turning the wheel, pressing the breaks, using the windows)

From what i've been told, our alternators do a crappy job at powering our whole car to begin with, so was wondering whether this was normal for everyone else, or could mine be slowly degenerating?

just check the alternator plug, its located behind the alternator, there two. One white clear platic plug ,and one brow rubber covered bolt nut plug, wiggle those, and see if it helps. It might be loose. Also check your main fuse box, sometimes thewires to the fuse box maybe loose... EIther that itcould be teh battery terminals are loose.

Get a multimeter on the battery with and without the car running. You should see about 12.6 volts with the ignition off and 14+ volts with the motor running. You can also check the voltage directly at the alternator.
